Margaret Stivers Biography:
Stiver's background is in architecture and aviation. She has a BA in design and a Masters of Architecture from Clemson University, Clemson S.C. She is also a recipient of the Alpha rho Chi medal. Margaret is a licensed architect, a licensed pilot and she was a professional stuntwoman specializing in wing walking. Now retired after 22 years of performing stunt- wingwalking in airshows and film work with the Silver Wings Wingwalking Team, Margaret's main focus has returned to her roots in art. Stivers brings to the canvas a fusion of her unique life's experiences. “Cue the Faded Lights Series” This new series, “Cue the Faded Lights”, resonates deep within me. These are paintings of neon lights, once reveling with color high above the boulevards and crowded streets, are now rescued and lying still in a neon bone yard awaiting care to preserve them. In many ways, I identify with these now dim lights and signs. As a wingwalker I have known glory, but now retired from the stunt world, I only look back on that career with supreme thankfulness. I have an appreciation for all my opportunities and so through painting I wish to breath life back in these lights and let them shine on once again.
Light illuminates my physical space and the objects in it, it also inspires an inner enthusiasm that propels me to create and paint. The challenge is to listen to my own unique essence, allow it to flow from my brush and manifest it on canvas, which I hope in turn, touches the viewer.
