Margaret Stivers Biography
Stiver’s background is in architecture and aviation. She has a BA in design and a Masters of Architecture from Clemson University, Clemson S.C. She is also a recipient of the Alpha Rho Chi medal. Margaret is a licensed architect, a licensed pilot and she was a professional stuntwoman specializing in wing walking. Now retired after 22 years of performing stunt- wingwalking in airshows and film work with the Silver Wings Wingwalking Team, Margaret’s main focus has returned to her roots in art. Stivers brings to the canvas a fusion of her unique life’s experiences. Painting Theme: The word dwell ushers in thoughts of safety. It is a place where one can be secure and hide in a storm. It is a place that can touched, or it is an effervescent act. Where we dwell we are home, and space, whether in nature or our own souls, becomes a special place. It is happiness as light shines through a woods or a mysterious discovery of beauty found in desert jumbo rocks. Artist Statement: Light illuminates my physical space and the objects in it, it also inspires an inner enthusiasm that propels me to create and paint. The challenge is to listen to my own unique essence, allow it to flow from my brush and manifest it on canvas, which I hope in turn, touches the viewer.
