Sarah Lee Biography
Sarah Lee is a San Francisco based artist working in both painting and sculpting. As a woman and first-generation Korean American, she embraces ideas of cultural hybridity, and plays with multiple themes of cross-pollination and blending in her work. These include: cultural hybridity, aesthetic hybridity, economic class hybridity, environmental hybridity, and most importantly disciplinary and material hybridity. Sarah depicts these themes of hybridity in the form of narratives, using animals as symbols of humans to echo the voices of the underrepresented—women, minority groups, and people of color—and to reveal their shared histories. She crossbreeds Charles Darwin’s theory of “Survival of the Fittest” in order to enforce the power of adaptation and survival, to amplify these voices of the underrepresented. #apero #aperogallery #aperocatalogue #curatorreview #curatedcatalogue #collectart #artcollectors #artcollection #fineartcollection #fineart #fineartreview #fineartsculpture #fineartcatalogue #buyart #artforsale #sculpture #sarahlee #yinandyang #mixedmedia #featuredartist
