Scott A. Trimble Biography
Scott A. Trimble paints with a pressing need to tell a story distilled down to its emotional fabric. his work is about relationships, observations, the sparks and shadows of the mind, and its stories. At work, Trimble willfully abandons his intellect until knee-deep in an image, engaging only the intuition of his eyes and hand, with the intention only to tell a story. It is partly always the story of himself, and because of the way he reuses and repurposes his own previous canvases, it also is the story of each painting’s own making, mirroring the shifting, fragmentary nature of memory. Trimble calls these “pocket narratives,” very, very short stories mapped in a non-linear, atemporal manner. Trimble paints with an empathetic rhythm that moves the brush and shapes his titles. That poetic interaction is your invitation. As you reconcile title with image, find some resonance – both personal and universal – with the human melody. An active artist member of the Los Angeles Art Association, Trimble’s work can be seen in group shows, solo shows and pairings widely throughout Southern California and elsewhere.
