Preston Craig Biography
A published artist, writer & lecturer originally from Louisiana, he works as a digital illustrator, fine artist, graphic designer, educator & voice over actor in Los Angeles. He earned an M.F.A. (with honors) in Illustration from the Academy of Art in San Francisco & a B.A. from the University of Louisiana. He has expertise in creating book & magazine illustrations, storyboards, computer graphics/graphic design, fine art (portraits, landscapes, fantasy) and scenic art/murals. He has traveled extensively; living & working at times in Norway, England, Italy and Japan. Involved with social issues & an avid artist rights advocate, he has been recognized by the L. A. City Council for his volunteer work & contribution to the growth of the arts in L.A. In 2014, one of his works was published in Acrylic Artists Magazine & in 2013, one of his landscape paintings was published in North Light Books’ - Acrylic Works: Best of Acrylic Competition. His artwork has garnered awards from Adobe Design, the Int’l Society of Acrylic Painters, the Society of Illustrators L. A., & other Local, National and International Competitions His mural work can be seen in a project dubbed the “Hollywood Night Gallery” on Hollywood Blvd. & in a mural honoring Bob Barker at CBS Studios. Some of his scenic work can be seen at Venus Fort (a 60,000 sq.ft. shopping center in Tokyo, Japan), the Paris Casino in Las Vegas & other venues around L.A. His latest series “Twisted TeddysTM“ focuses on utilizing an iconic image of childhood innocence, the teddy bear, to address social issues, make social commentary & be a force for helping to create positive social change, with a portion of the funds generated by sales of his merchandise, benefiting social programs like Homelessness, Gang abatement, Drug Addiction, Child abuse & many others. He is presently working on getting 3D printed figures of a few of his teddy characters & developing plush prototypes & is seeking a licensee.
