Kelly Curtis Biography
As a lifelong artist, I find myself creating art out of anything and everything that inspires me which has resulted in a collection of varying media throughout the years including acrylic, oils, watercolor, pencil, chalk, digital video, ceramics, textiles, wire, and any combination of the above. Currently, I am focused on painting energetically charged art embracing sacred geometry and how it activates different parts of our identity, virtues, and sense of belonging. In my Mandala series, I want to experiment with art’s ability to emit a particular essence to its audience and into its environment. Each painting in this series is dedicated to manifesting desires and are inspired by my past, my future, my mother, and the beautiful Bradbury & Bradbury Art Wallpaper designs which decorated the walls of my childhood home. As I paint, I meditate around each intention (Abundance, Balance, Surrender, Design, etc), repeating a specific mantra as I work, and focusing my energy into the paint and the piece itself in hopes that each one will assist in manifesting said energy for anyone in its presence, allowing the recipient to not only decorate their home visually, but to decorate their home’s energy as well. Mandalas represent the totality of the universe, a reminder of our own infinite nature that extends beyond our physical selves in our own cosmic virtue. As a powerful tool for meditation, mandalas have the ability to quiet the mind and allow the space to create clarity around the intention of the mandala, bringing it into reality. Each mandala will have its own personality, energy, and purpose.
