I was born in Bogotá, Colombia in 1970. Throughout my life, I have been fascinated by the environment in which I have grown up. Due to my growing interest in the themes of design, aesthetics, construction, interior and exterior environments, etc., I studied Architecture at Universidad Piloto de Colombia At the end of my professional career, I dedicated myself completely to creating my Construction and Architectural Finishing Company, the last stage of all construction, while at the same time the need to express my senses and feelings on a blank canvas increased and I started in the year 2000 my first explorations with oil. Towards the year 2008, I took classes with a well-known national artist, Didier Peña, who helped me to understand the handling of different techniques and materials, making works in oil on canvas, in a process of evolution, getting to mix such diverse techniques, as the integration of oil with oxidized metals. The artwork presented corresponds to the most recent phase of experimentation, using modern techniques of design and handling of new materials, preserving aesthetic values and purity of color. Using these medium, thermo profile on Yupo, I obtain lots of dynamics effects that visually transmits movement to the viewer, under the principles of stable kinetic art. The colors contrast between their layers with the harmonic sensation between movement and depth.
Curator Review: Exposé
A fantastic energy has been manifested in this work by artist Angela Cruz. From the varying textural qualities, to the blended, morphing edges and shadows, to the beautiful shades of color, Cruz has created a bold and compelling piece full of intellectual curiosity. Her profoundly artistic approach embraces modern abstract expression, and singularly transcribes it into something organic and at the ‘eve’ of us all.
Dedicated to true expression through the arts.
