Marcia Hoeck Biography
Marcia Hoeck paints in acrylics and oils. Through her work she nudges flowers past the stillness of still life, pushing beyond realism to her subjects’ true personalities as they glow and strut, or reach for streams of light. She enthusiastically shows her work to anyone she can get to look at it, including online and in person in her adopted home town of San Diego. She has shown in the November 2017 group exhibition Botanik, at Las Laguna Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA, and if you’re lucky enough to be in Kingsville, ON, Canada in April 2018, stop by her solo exhibition at Sissy & Roché Gallery. Marcia received a BFA in graphic design at Ohio University in Athens, OH. Her favorite courses were life drawing, where the first assignment was to procure chicken feet with which to draw (a disaster), and lithography, but she ended up a graphic design major anyway. After a full career as a design and branding firm owner, she now prefers to paint. Marcia was born in Youngstown, OH, and now lives happily in San Diego, CA. You really can’t blame her, can you?
