Victoria Pflanzer Biography
Victoria Pflanzer started her lifelong love of photography as a teen taking pictures for her high school yearbook in a small town just below Mt. Shasta in the most northern area of California. In her early 20’s, Victoria took several classes in photography before answering a newspaper’s classified ad for a school pictures photography job. She turned that seasonal job into a 5 year full time job as a portrait studio photographer before going back to school, Brook Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, and go on to become a professional product photographer in Los Angeles County. While Victoria loved the challenges that working with large companies and advertising agencies provided, life took one of those unexpected turns. As a parent volunteer in her daughter’s classroom, she discovered the rewards of working with children. After earning a Multiple Subject Credential, a Supplemental Art Certificate, and a Specific Single Subjects Credential, Victoria now teaches photography at Benton Middle School, a Visual and Performing Arts Academy. Artistically, Victoria is still motivated by her roots of growing up immersed in nature. She continues to photograph scenes found in the outdoors. Her photographs have received awards in many competitions; City of La Mirada’s Photo Contest, Los Angeles County Fair’s Photography Contest, and the Arts Colony of La Mirada’s Mirrors of Your Mind Art Show.
