Karri McPherson Biography
Karri McPherson (b. 1995) was born in Hong Kong and emigrated to Australia soon after. She is a contemporary painter, digital artist and muralist living in Queensland, Australia and has recently completed a Bachelor of Creative Art at the University of Southern Queensland. McPherson’s art practice explores geometric art in relation to contemporary spatial confinements. Through her hard-edge forms she seeks to break down the boundaries of perception by actualising hard- edge forms in various settings. McPherson seeks to understand the power that geometric art has to infuse different communities with the beauty of shape, form and colour. Her works are typically created on two-dimensional surfaces where she strives to convey an illusion of depth; she achieves this by experimenting with perspective and shading, using contrasting colours to delineate between foreground and background. McPherson has been involved in over thirty exhibitions throughout Australia, including her selection in ten finalist exhibitions. She has also won two art prizes; the Emerging Artist Award at the University of Southern Queensland graduate exhibition in 2017, and the 2018 Biennial Emerging Artist Award where her work was acquired by the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery.
Dedicated to true expression through the arts.
