Steffie Wallace Biography
I studied Fine Art in Melbourne, Australia, and I have been painting and exhibiting landscapes for over 30 years. My paintings are dominated by the sky in which I find my spiritual as well as my artistic inspiration. The contrasting vistas of the sea and the outback are central to my creative vision; Australia, as the oldest continent on earth, is unique with its vast and beautiful country, offering vast spatial references to explore artistically I work with a limited palette range and the main focus of my work is centred on atmospheric effects. The visual interpretation of changing light remains an ongoing fascination as does the desire to capture the immediacy of a particular climatic situation. In conveying an emotional response to the landscape, my work reflects the unpredictability of nature with the emphasis on transitory experience, which parallels our own fleeting existence on earth and the relativity of our significance within the natural environment. I am represented by galleries both locally and overseas and I have participated in many group and solo exhibitions. I was a previous winner of the Lorenzo il Magnifico Silver Medal for Painting at the Florence Biennale in Italy, and I recently won ‘Best Landscape’ award at the Linden Postcard Show, currently showing in Melbourne.
Dedicated to true expression through the arts.
