Sarah Still

Sarah Still

Sarah is a self taught realist painter and illustrator. Her highly detailed wildlife portraits are inspired by the rich flora and fauna of Canada’s west coast, where she calls home. She was fortunate to discover her talent at an early age, sparking a life long penchant for creating. Her work has now sold worldwide and been featured on two Canadian postage stamps. Her current acrylic paintings include large scale, black and white animals, in which she chases light and contrast. By focusing on the values and not allowing herself to be distracted by colour, she achieves a powerful intensity which celebrates the essence of the animal. Sarah believes that in addition to producing a likeness of the subject, the goal of portraiture is to create a bond. “As we move farther into a digital era, we must endeavour to inspire emotional connections to the natural world.”
